Disaster Monitoring Limitations

Being honest about what monitoring can and cannot do is a safety feature.

NexoAid does not predict earthquakes. We monitor official sources, verified citizen reports, and operational signals to surface early warnings (where available), probable-aftershock awareness, and safety guidance.

NexoAid does not predict earthquakes. It monitors official sources, verified citizen reports and operational signals to surface early warnings (where they exist), awareness of likely aftershocks and safety guidance.

What NexoAid monitoring does

  • Relays signals from official sources such as USGS, EMSC, NOAA and GDACS.
  • Surfaces early warnings where official systems provide them.
  • Raises aftershock awareness and safety guidance after an event.
  • Adds verification-aware citizen and responder context around official data.

What NexoAid monitoring does not do

  • It does not predict earthquakes, and it makes no guaranteed warning of one.
  • It does not replace official alerts, sirens or emergency broadcasts.
  • It does not provide a countdown to any future event.
  • It is not a substitute for following the instructions of local authorities.

Why we are careful with language

Overstated warnings cost lives — through panic, complacency or misdirected effort. NexoAid uses monitoring, early-warning and aftershock-awareness language only, and routes people to official guidance. NexoAid supports emergency coordination but does not replace official emergency services. In a life-threatening emergency, contact your local authorities first.
